SmartButler Connect — Privacy Policy

SmartButler Connect is a local Wi-Fi provisioning app for the SmartButler Meter. It uses ESP-Touch on your phone’s local network so the meter can join your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. This policy describes what the app accesses, what it does not collect, and how to contact us.

Information the app accesses

• Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and router identifier (BSSID) — read on your device to pre-fill setup. Not uploaded to SmartButler servers.
• Wi-Fi password — entered by you and sent only to your meter over local ESP-Touch. It is kept in app memory during setup. It is not stored on disk, not backed up, and not sent to SmartButler servers.
• Device MAC and IP of the meter — shown after a successful local pairing so you can confirm the device. Not uploaded to our servers.

Information we do not collect

SmartButler Connect does not create accounts and does not include analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs. We do not sell data. Nothing in the app is transmitted to SmartButler over the internet as part of provisioning.

If you email support, your message and any address you include are handled in your mail app and our support inbox. That is optional and initiated by you.

Permissions

• Location — required by the operating system to read the current Wi-Fi name (SSID/BSSID). On Android 13+, Nearby Wi-Fi devices is also requested. Not used for tracking, advertising, or background location.
• Local network / multicast — used only to communicate with your meter during provisioning.
• Internet — required for local UDP sockets used by ESP-Touch. Provisioning traffic stays on your LAN.

Retention and deletion

SSID, BSSID, and Wi-Fi password are not stored by the app after you leave setup. There is no user account, so there is no in-app account-deletion request. You can uninstall the app at any time. To ask us to delete a support email you sent, contact smartbutler.pg@gmail.com.

Children

The app is intended for adults setting up a household or business meter. It is not directed at children under 13 and is not part of Google Play’s Designed for Families program.

Third parties

Provisioning does not send data to third-party analytics or advertising services. Opening email support uses the mail app you choose on your device.

Changes

We may update this policy if the app’s data practices change. The date below is the latest revision.
